ââ¬Å½The Arco dei Banchi is a road that connects the current Via del ââ¬Å½Ã¢â¬Å½Banco di Santo Spiritoââ¬Å½Ã¢â¬Å½ with ââ¬Å½Ã¢â¬Å½Via Paolaââ¬Å½Ã¢â¬Å½. In the Renaissance period this was a really important road, in which the financial activities of Rome were carried out.ââ¬Å½Ã¢â¬Å½In this small street lived the most famous banker in all of Rome, ââ¬Å½Ã¢â¬Å½Agostino Chigiââ¬Å½Ã¢â¬Å½, who set up a banquet under the arch and managed all the finances of Rome. He granted loans, settled accounts and had next to the street a large villa that was rich in treasures, gold, fabrics and that had a cistern in which customers could cool off while waiting to talk to him.ââ¬Å½
