Description
A male pink-eared duck escorting his brood of ducklings in the shallow waters as they feed. These ducks endemic to Australia are closely associated with the Australasian Shoveler due it's large spatulate bill. It's barred feather pattern make this male quite striking in looks. The female has far less markings. Note the tiny amount of pink where it's ear is located, hence given the name Pink-eared Duck. This little family were captured in a protected Wetlands in the middle of Queensland in a Conservation area named Lara Wetlands.
