Description

Sculpture in the traditional Egyptian form of Cleopatra VII Philopator, the last queen of Hellenistic Egypt from the Macedonian Ptolemaic dynasty. Presumably, it repeats the image of the goddess Isis. Glorified thanks to the dramatic love story for the Roman commander Mark Antony. In the last years of her reign, Egypt was conquered by Rome. Cleopatra herself committed suicide to avoid becoming Octavian`s prisoner. This statue is exhibited in the Egyptian Hall of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia
