Laurie Lee's Cottage, Slad, Gloucester Royalty-Free Stock Photography

This is Mrs. Lee's cottage in the tiny Gloucestershire village of Slad, in England's heartland, and this is where little Laurie grew up and subsequently - thankfully - gave us 'Cider with Rosie'. The writer, who left this cottage on foot to walk to London and join the International Brigade during the Spanish Civil War, is buried in the small churchyard opposite, and his fame is still commemorated in the pub just down the road.
