Description

Pictured is a Texas Trail of Fame star honoring the frontiersman Britt Johnson in the Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas. Johnson was a slave of Moses Johnson in Young County, Texas. In 1864, Comanche warriors raided the settlement, killing his son and kidnapping his wife and remaining three children. After years of searching, he found and Indian encampment where his wife and children were. Befriending the Indians, Johnson succeeded in getting back his wife and children. The Texas Trail of Fame was established in 1997 to honor those who have made a significant contribution to our Western way of life. Throughout the walkways of the Fort Worth National Historic District, bronze inlaid markers have been placed in honor of their achievements.
