Photo of Rabdentse palace ruins from Pelling West Sikkim. A Rabdentse ruin near Pelling in West Sikkim once served as the second capital of Sikkim during the 17th century. Tensung Namgyal, the successor of Phunshok Namgyal, shifted the capital from Yuksom to Rabdentse near Pelling. The first king of Sikkim was Phunshok Namgyal. It is said that the Gorkha army, under the leadership of Prithvi Narayan Sah, invaded Rabdebtse and destroyed it. The Rabdentse is one of Sikkim's top tourist destinations today.
