Description
The root is the organ of the plant that has two main functions: to serve as a means of attachment to the soil and as an organ that absorbs water, nitrogen compounds and other mineral substances such as potassium and phosphorus crude or inorganic matter. Almost always underground. There are, however, plants with special roots, such as fig trees with their aerial roots, and epiphytic plants.
