Vanellus chilensis, also known as tetéu, teu-téu, teréu-teréu and terém-terém, is a bird of the Charadriiformes order, belonging to the Charadriidae family. In Spanish it is known as tero or tero-tero, and in English as southern lapwing. It occurs throughout South America and in some parts of Central America. The main colors of its feathers are black, gray and white. The black ordeal promage is seen mainly in a band that starts on the forehead, goes down the throat and expands on the chest. On top of its wings are coppery and greenish feathers.
