Bronze copy of the sculpture "Beggar". L.V. Posen. #245104743
Description
Leonid Posen was a very modest man, which was expressed even in his refusal of the title of academician, since he considered himself unworthy of such an honor. Modesty was also reflected in his works. He did not try to create pompous products, was not fond of the images of noble ladies and gentlemen, but was interested in the simplicity that penetrates deeply into the soul. In his work "The Beggar", a simple old man collecting alms is represented. The author decided to draw the viewer's attention to the burden of the situation of an impoverished person who is so despised and shunned by society. Exhausted and desperate, he appears before us in old clothes that have begun to tear from dilapidation. A shawl thrown over his head and outerwear indicate the onset of cold weather, which a poor man is forced to meet in old bast shoes.
