Giant redwood Sequoiadendron giganteum, 5. #245251112
Description
The Giant redwood or Giant sequoia, Sequoiadendron giganteum, are not just plain big, but are known as some of the biggest trees anywhere. They can grow up to 280 ft 85 m more even and 25 ft 8 m around. And if their massive size is not enough, they are also amongst the oldest living things on the planet, with one estimated at being at least 3,200 years old, and is in an undisclosed location, for security reasons in the Nevada mountain range. It is because of both its very thick bark, as well as the chemical compound of the sap, that helps to protect the tree from both pests as well as fire. As seen in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens of Golden Gate Park 6 April 2022.
