Title
Great blue heron Ardea herodias, chicks about 4 weeks old, 7. #245581772
Description
Great blue heron, Ardea herodias, chicks by about four weeks, are becoming quickly bigger and more rambunctious. Although they will lay from 3-6 eggs per season, only one egg is laid at a time, usually one to two days apart. Because of this, usually only one chick will hatch at a time, and this one will be the nests dominate, claiming first feeding, and the most, causing it to grow both the fastest and the most. This difference is becoming more and more apparent at this point. As seen at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park13 April 2022.
