Jamaican Ackee and salted cod fish with table knife and fork #246495189
Description
A close up of the Jamaican national dish served on a white plate with boiled potatoes and flour dumplings. This Caribbean Island treat has been the country`s national meal for decades. Ackee was a staple food in west Africa and when Europeans took west Africans for slaves the fruit was eventually carried to the Caribbean. Some island nations like Barbados do not encourage eating the fruit as it does contain a poison and if not cooked thoroughly can cause sickness or even death so the food can be dangerous. If done right it is delicious and offers many health benefits
