Mary Porter was born into a prominent California family, with roots going back to the San Francisco gold rush. She would marry William Sesnon, whose family preceded hers to the state.When having their new family summer home built, on her own, old home that she grew up in, they had John McLaren, most famous as the superintendent of Golden Gate Park, design their formal gardens. It is fitting then, that a piece of that garden be in the most formal garden of Golden Gate Park itself.As seen in the San Francisco Botanical Garden4 March 2022.
