The Ansie swallowtail, Papillio zelicaon butterfly, can look quite similar to the Monarch butterfly, the Monarchs have a lot more orange, while the Swallowtail is more black. While they eat various plant types, they have to be careful they do not get eaten, by bats, birds or other insects. Their color pattern is a form of natural defense, to confuse predators as to what they are seeing.As seen at the top of Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park 16 March 2022.
