The Lower-Intermediate Pitcher of Nepenthes gracilis Squat Form #249061337
Description

It’s leaves are only half the length of the leaves of regular nepenthes gracilis, and the distance between the leave bases are also reduced by half. Whatever mutation that made its pitchers tubby have also resulted in a plant that stays relatively compact even during its vining stage. The pitcher lids tend to show an open “gap” at the front while the pitchers are still under development, which is probably linked to the above mutation. I’ve occasionally seen “squat” varieties of other nepenthes species sold by vendors. like the usual nepenthes gracilis, it also occasionally forms ampullaria-style “basal” pitchers.
