Description
Codiaeum variegatum (L.) A.Juss. is a species of perennial plant in the genus Codiaeum in the family Euphorbiaceae. The species has a natural distribution in Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and the islands of the western Pacific, occurring in open forests and thickets. The species is widely used as an ornamental plant, including as an indoor plant in temperate and cold regions, being marketed under the common name of croton. Several cultivars are available, with diversified leaf coloration, mainly with reddish base variegation. The plant is highly toxic to humans.
