Description

If you ask about the residence of Confucius' descendants, many people will think of Qufu, Shandong Province. In fact, there is also a Confucius Temple in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province. These two southern and northern Confucius temples are the only two Confucian temples in China. The descendants of Confucius from Zhejiang thrive here, known as Nankong. They moved south with the Song royal family after the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty. When I walked into the Confucius Temple in Quzhou, I was immediately surrounded by a solemn atmosphere. The Confucius Temple in Quzhou is mainly composed of three parts-- Jia Miao, Confucius House and Confucius Garden. All the buildings follow the regulation of the Confucius Temple, with symmetrical distribution and neat and square layout. Walk through the Dacheng Hall, pass by Siluge, and look at the statue of Confucius. Walking among them, appreciating the traces left by the sages is like carrying out a silent cultural baptism. Dacheng Hall is the central building of the whole family temple. The high plaques in front of the temple and in the temple are extremely conspicuous, which are the absence of living people written by Emperor Yongzheng and the inscription of Master for all generations written by Emperor Kangxi. In the Dacheng Hall, the colored statues of Confucius are exquisite and vivid, and the statues of Boyu and Zisi on both sides are also lifelike. The simple and elegant architecture everywhere shows the Confucian Doctrine of the mean and the dignity and splendor that the great families once had, so that visitors feel a sense of respect from the bottom of their hearts.
