Kacapiring (Indonesian called) is an annual shrub of the Kopi-kopian tribe or Rubiaceae. The flowers are white and very fragrant. The binomial name G. jasminoides means "Gardenia resembling jasmine", but taxonomically gardenia is not closely related to jasmine. The regional names are cepiring and jempiring. China uses it as a tea aroma enhancer. Meanwhile, in Japan, gardenia is used for natural dyes in food and textiles
