Description
Pictured is a relief in the New Kingdom Tomb of Maya hewn into the southern escarpment of the Bubasteum in the Saqqara necropolis, Egypt. In the relief Maya is shown in front of offering bearers. She is depicted as a mummy in relation to the opening of the mouth ritual and she is standing before the underworld god Osiris. Maya was the wet nurse of King Tutankhamum. Her tomb was discovered in 1996 by the French Archeological Mission headed by Alain Zivie.
