Description
The lemon tree, Citrus limon, long associate with tall, cool drinks in the shade, is originally native to Asia. Originally planted as an ornamental tree in Asia, this practice continued by the Romans when they first started bringing the tree into Europe. It was Columbuses discoveries of the Americas that it now spread there, but still just for ornamental purposes.The Scottish doctor, James Lind, was the first one to recommend adding the juice of lemon to all the seamen for scurvy cure and prevention, in 1747. From this, it finally spread to other culinary and household uses, as we now know it today.
