Description
Pictured is a carved stone lion`s head in front of the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, Egypt. The lion was a symbol of power and kingship in Egypt from the earliest of times. The museum was built in 1901 to a design by French architect Marcel Dourgnon. In 2022, the museum is due to be superseded by the newer and larger Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.
