Description

Pictured is the Tutankhamun alabaster canopic box and movable lid inside the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, Egypt. The box is divided into four sections that each contain a miniature gold coffin with an alabaster human-headed stopper. The gold coffins once contained the viscera of King Tutankhamun. The museum was built in 1901 to a design by French architect Marcel Dourgnon. In 2022, the museum is due to be superseded by the newer and larger Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.
