Description
Here, at the Soviet Cenotaph, 604, mostly civilian, victims of World War 2 are buried. Mostly forced laborers from the then Soviet Union. The victims were moved from the North and South Cemeteries and the Jewish Cemetery to the Main Cemetery in 1947. The site was inaugurated on May 1, 1954. In 1994, before their withdrawal, the Russian forces handed over the gravesite to the city of Erfurt.
