El Capitolio on a Sunny Day in Havana, Cuba #251500674
Description
El Capitolio is likely the best known building in Havana and Cuba as well. After 3 years of construction, it became the Cuban Congress or Parliament building in the latae 1920s. It is strikingly similar the the United States Capitol building in Washington, DC. But it is, at 302 feet, 2 feet taller and more ornate. When the Cuban government fell in 1959 and Fidel Castro took power, the Congress left the building. Three years lataer, and until the present time, it has been the National Library of Science and Technology. It has been discussed that in future years it may again be the site of a national parliament.
