Description
Pictured is a closeup view of the edge of one of the beautiful salt pools around the Siwa Oasis in Egypt. Years ago salt mining operations created the salt lakes and pools. The water is so salty no marine life can survive in it, and so dense it is very easy to float. The Siwa Oasis is one of Egypt`s most isolated settlements, with about 33,000 people, mostly Berbers. The oasis is known to have been settled since at least the 10th millenium BC.
