Visitors to Lake Bled in Slovenia enjoy its exuberant, fresh and green environment in many ways in summer, one of them being the visit and contemplation of the magnificent buildings and architectural elements that abound on its shores, while wandering among beautiful alpine forest landscapes and blue-turquoise waters. Inside the lake, the well known Bled Island and its Assumption of Mary Church are the most iconic and photographed landmarks on the area, only reached by boat. From the island's pier, there is a large Baroque stairway with 99 stone steps that leads up to the building, which current form dates back to the 17th century. The church is frequently visited for weddings being held there regularly the tradition, considered good luck, is that the groom carries his bride up the steps on the day of their wedding before ringing the bell and making a wish inside the church. Lake Bled is a very popular tourist destination in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia, located only 55 km far from the capital city, Ljubljana. It has a railway station to easily reach the area, besides the access by road. The lake lies in a picturesque environment surrounded by great mountains and forests, and for centuries people has flocked to its shores to enjoy recreation and also medicinal benefits.
