The Hippodrome night club San Francisco 2 #252201835
Description
When the Gold Rush hit San Francisco, all kinds of peoples from all around the world flooded into the City. With all kinds of dancing halls; brothels; night clubs and saloons in the area known as The Barbary Coast, the area built a reputation for absolute lawlessness. One of the night clubs was The Hippodrome. By the earthquake of 1906, only a few of those places did not survived. Later laws finally shut down those few remaining. The Hippodrome was one of the last, with only the plaster casts of what went on inside, to finally remain. Most recently, the business was a really good, employee owned arts supply store. But as the area was turned into the more trendy Jackson Square, they, too, are just one more ghost from the past.As seen 13 July 2022.
