Adam Grant Building San Francisco 6 #253592221
Description
The Adam Grant Building started out in 1867 as just a four story brick building, along with some 250 tons of iron. Because of this, Gaynor, the architect, was greatly honored for the earthquake safe building. The building is for a dry goods store, owned by an Adam Grant and Daniel MurphyThen came the great quake of 1906, and there went the building. So, in 1908, a brand new, now six story building was put up. Now comes 1926, and the original dry goods owner moves out, the building now get a whole new design. An additional eight floors were added, but not just stacked straight up. The top three floors are more set back, with the top floor being a terrace. Then comes the 1970`s, and California now has earthquake safety laws, which includes preexisting building. Ornaments that were not secured, had to be removed. The new millennium also brought new technologies, and the building was able to be restored to its original beauty. As seen 9 August 2022.
