The potential for commerce related to cotton payrolls attracted a robust cadre of Jewish merchants to Hale Avenue in the early 1900s. Harwarg`s opened in `Old Town` before moving to `New Town,` followed by Beehive`s, Nickol`s, and Weinberg`s. Silverfield`s 1915 operated over 80 years in downtown Osceola.
