Description
Portrait bricks were used to construct graves popularly in China from 3rd century BC to 6th century AD. From them, we can learn the life of ancient people. The Vermilion Bird is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. It represents the fire element, the direction south, and the season summer correspondingly. This Brick was unearthed from a grave in Dunhuang city, Gansu province, PRC. 1995.
