In July 2021 Ahr valley was hit by a major flood disaster with many dead and large areas devastated. Dernau an der Ahr is one of places with big losses and visible damage even one year later. The beautiful wine area was once a touristic hotspot and known for the good wine. The rebuilding of this area takes many years and the volunteers who helped a the backbone of the efforts. This sign is one of many small gestures to thank the people who spend so much time to help.
