Inerkhau seated in a chair on a boat in the first chamber of TT359, the Tomb of Inerkhau in Deir el-Medina. #
Description
Pictured is Inerkhau seated in a chair on a boat in upper register of the northwest wall of the first chamber of TT359, the Tomb of Inerkhau in Deir el-Medina. The prow and stern of the boat have the shape of a lotus bloom. On the side of the boat is painted an udjet eye, the symbol of bodily integrity and promise of health. Two pairs of oars with concentric rings are topped with the head of a falcon. He holds his arms wide stretching a piece of white cloth behind his shoulders, a rare image for which Egyptology hardly proposes a satisfactory explanation.
