George Copos (born March 27, 1953 at Szalacs Satu Mare), a senator in the legislature from 2004 to 2008 is a Romanian politician and businessman, owner of a chain of distribution of electronic products group of bistros, of several major hotels in Bucharest, Brasov and Poiana-Eforie-North and the football club FC Rapid Bucharest. His fortune is estimated by the press to 700 million (in 2007). He is married and has one daughter. Copos is a member of the Conservative Party (former Romanian Humanist Party), Senator since 2004, and December 2004 to June 2006 was Minister of State for coordination of activities in business areas and small and medium Tariceanu Government, and-resigned after accepting some provisions he proposed the tax code. He currently serves on the Economic Commission and the Health, Ecology and Sport of the Romanian Senate. According to Forbes magazine, in 2009, George Copos fortune was estimated at 200-210 million.
