Description
Pictured are three Egyptian gods. located on the ceiling of TT219, the tomb of Nebenmaat in Deir el-medina. The first is Ra, god of the sun pictured as a fusion with Horus in the form of a falcon with the sun-disk inside a cobra resting on his head. This fusion was called Ra-Horakhty. The second is Osiris, holding a djed, the symbol of stability representing the backbone of Osiris. The third is the baboon god Hedjwer who was a solar deity. He has a headdress with horns and golden solar disc. Nebenmaat was an ancient egyptian artisan who lived with other workmen in Dar el-Medina. They built and decorated the tombs in the nearby Valley of the Kings as well as their own tombs in Deir el-Medina. As other workmen who lived there, he was titled `Servant in the Place of Truth`. He was buried with his wife Mertseger. The paintings are in the monochrome style.
