Description
Oscar-winning actress and political and social activist Jane Fonda arranges her speaking notes at the podium on the Mall in Washington, DC on July 4, 1976. She was part of an event 100,000-strong, called `The People`s Bicentennial.` As large as it was, it was dwarfed by the other 900,000 attending the main celebration held on nearby ground at the same venue. Fonda`s group included Peter Yarrow, John Henry Falk, Barry Commoner, Jesse Jackson, Flo Kennedy, Drlores Huerta, and other activists and artists from the left or progressive, peace, feminist and environmentalist camps.
