Description
Pictured are two stained glass windows in the Cloisters in Fort Tyrone Park in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City. Governed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Cloisters specializes in medieval art and architecture with a focus on Romanesque and Gothic periods. On the left are two scenes from the Legend of Saint Germain. The servant woman carrying flasks was part of an attempt to poison the youthful Germain, who became bishop of Paris in the 6th Century. Below Germain appears posthumously to his exhort his brother, a monk, to maintain his faith. One the right Saint Lawrence is martyred by being burned on a grill over an open fire.
