White-Crowned Sparrow Eating A Worm, Rocky Mountains, Colorado Royalty-Free Stock Image

This medium sized sparrow feeds primarily on insects, seeds, and other plant parts, while nesting in bushes or under shrubs. They are known for their unihemispheric sleep which permits them to stay half awake while migrating for up to two weeks. This individual was feeding on a green worm while perched atop a pine tree. Another bird is seen off in the distance.
