The Encelia californica, or California Brittlebrush or California coast sunflower, looks like a daisy, to which it is related. Ladybugs, or more correctly, lady beetles, love this plant and are drawn to it, such as this Spotless lady beetle, Cycloneda sanguinea, are not bugs at all but beetles, as they have hard front wings. Seen along the Carpinteria, California shoreline16 August 2022.
