Pycnoporus sanguineus is a white rot saprobic fungus. Found on Guana Island part of the Virgin Islands but occurs throughout the tropics and subtropics, usually growing on dead hardwood. It grows in the form of thin dry cones with lateral attachments to its substrate, or sometimes very short stipe. The cap is orange-red to orange, brightening for salmon or age enthusiasts
