Despite the name, the Common primrose, Primula vulgaris, is not at all related to the rose family. It is simply from the Latin, Prima Rosa, as it is the first appearing in the spring. The `vulgaris` refers to this being a common plant.Normally flowers are used for teas, but with this, the leaf is used for tea making, the flower is used for wine.
