Description
The national historical and archaeological reserve `Pliska` is located 28 kilometers northeast of the city of Shumen and 3 kilometers from the modern city of Pliska. It is part of the Hundred National Tourist Sites.Pliska is the first capital of Bulgaria and the cradle of today`s Bulgarian state. From the founding of the Bulgarian state in 681 by Khan Asparukh to 893, Pliska was, in addition to being the capital, one of the largest and richest cities in Europe and the world. It is remarkable for its architecture, which the Bulgarians carry from their previous inhabitants.
