Lana Turner in Evergreen Park, Illinois #256876037
Description
Luminous Hollywood actress Lana Turner blows a kiss to the audience at the conclusion of the play in which she starred. The show was at the now defunct Drury Lane South theater in Evergreen Park, Illinois, which borders the Southwest Side of Chicago. The theater was part of a complex with the Martinique restaurant and offered the option of a dinner and drinks with the show. This performance was in 1979, at a time when dinner theater was still a popular option throughout North America. The venues offered a relatively intimate setting for some very big, but fading Hollywood movie stars who were still adored by legions of their loyal fans. By the early 2000`s there were very few such establishments remaining. This particular one, though it drew well, was demolished to make way for a giant Wallmart shopping plaza. Turner, who was also a sex siren and pinup model, died on June 29, 1995, in the Century City neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, at 74 years of age.
