A tree with many pitangas. The Suriname cherry is the fruit of the Suriname cherry (Eugenia uniflora L.), a dicot of the Myrtaceae family. It has the form of globular and fleshy balls, red (the most common), orange, yellow or black. On the same tree, the fruit can vary from green, yellow and orange to intense red, depending on the degree of maturation. The pitanga tree is a native tree of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, where it is found in the forest.
