The squirrel moth is a moth of the pintail family Sphingidae. It owes its name to the skull-like spot on the thorax. It can be recognized by a relativelarge and thick body and the claws on the legs. He reaches a height of sevencentimeters. The wingspan is almost 14 cm. The forewings are on the topbrown colored, the underside of the forewings and the hindwings are yellow in color with darkstripes and spots. The butterfly may make a squeaking sound. The caterpillar stands outthe green-yellow body, up to 13 centimeters long with blue to purple slashes.
