Description
At the very end of the XVIII century in Gatchina, architect Nikolai Lvov erected a truly unique architectural monument ââ¬â the Priory Palace. Now the building is a kind of business card of the city and probably one of the most unusual and recognizable palaces in the vicinity of St. Petersburg. After the death of the emperor, his son Alexander I resigned as Grand Master, and the knightly possessions were returned to the treasury. In the future, the palace changed its purpose more than once ââ¬â in the XIX century, the family of the manager of the royal hunt lived here, and in Soviet times, natural history and local history museums, a factory recreation center and even a music school were located in the premises of the building.
