Our national bird, the bald eagle is a spectacular and gorgeous bird that has made a significant comeback within recent decades, after having been endangered through much of the 20th century. They build their nests on large platforms composed of sticks on top of large, isolated trees or portions of rocks. An apex predator, bald eagles catch fish, turtles, snakes, and other prey with their talons. October in Colorado.
