Female blackbird among fruit in yew tree #261238066
Description
A female blackbird, Turdus merula, perches in a yew tree, Taxus baccata, in a public park in Yorkshire, UK. It's autumn (fall), and the yew is producing red fruit, or arils, which provide food for animals and birds. Blackbirds are common garden birds and members of the thrush family. Yews are evergreen trees with pointed needle leaves and are poisonous to humans. They are thought to be the most long-lived trees in Northern Europe.
