Old Ship Saloon 2 #261284858
Description
During San Francisco`s historic Gold Rush era, many ships were abandoned, most intentionally. The Arkansas ended up on rocks at Bird Island, now know as Alcatraz,in 1849 after a six month journey from New York City, where she was built. Brought over to the old coast line of San Francisco, most of the old ship was covered over with dirt for landfilln and a hole cut from what remained, serving as a saloon among other things. The saloon has remained ever, since 1851. As seen 19 August 2017.
