Pictured is a Woodmen of the World gravestone for the Bobo family in the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford, Texas. Father Joel H. Bobo was born in 1845 and died in 1921. His wife Anne T. Bobo was born in 1858 and died in 1886, likely in childbirth. Four children died, with the oldest living only 3 years. Woodmen of the World is a national fraternal benefit society founded on June 6th, 1890 by Joseph Cullen Root. Early Woodmen of the World policies provided both a death and monument benefit until the 1920s when the cost of gravestones increased. They still exist today in 2022, with a 132 year history as a not-for-profit life insurance company.
