Description
This is a Melanerpes aurifrons species woodpecker, Picidae family. Common name: Golden-fronted woodpecker. They like this habitat, the tropical rainforest. The plumage of the golden-fronted woodpecker is very similar in appearance to that of the Yucatan woodpecker (Melanerpes pygmaeus). It can be very difficult to distinguish between these two species in the field.
